About Us

Guardianship Assistance Program (GAP) is a non-profit organization that provides legal representation for parents and caretakers of developmentally disabled youth that need to petition the Court for legal guardianship of their child. This process is complex and financially prohibitive for many families. The mission of GAP is to provide affordable legal services for these families.

GAP was formed by attorneys with a vision to assist parents in protecting their children through adulthood. In New Jersey a parent does not automatically retain any rights as guardian when their child reaches age 18. Many families seek legal guardianship to have peace of mind that their child is protected. GAP fills this need by providing affordable legal representation by attorneys experienced in this field.
